Terms of Service

Last updated: March 1, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Octomate ("the platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

2. Description of Service

Octomate is an interactive DevOps learning platform that provides hands-on challenges in containerized environments. Users complete tasks in real terminal sessions running inside Kubernetes pods provisioned on demand.

3. Accounts

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Acceptable Use

When using the platform, you agree not to:

  • Attempt to access systems, networks, or data outside the scope of a challenge environment
  • Use challenge environments to launch attacks, mine cryptocurrency, or run unauthorized workloads
  • Attempt to escape the containerized environment or access the underlying infrastructure
  • Interfere with other users' challenge sessions or the platform's operation
  • Circumvent rate limits, usage limits, or other access controls
  • Use automated tools to scrape content or interact with the platform at scale
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the platform

5. Challenge Environments

Challenge environments are temporary, isolated containers provided for learning purposes. They are:

  • Provisioned on demand and automatically cleaned up after use
  • Subject to resource limits (CPU, memory, storage)
  • Not intended for persistent storage — any data in a challenge environment may be deleted at any time
  • Monitored for abuse and security purposes

6. Usage Tiers

Access to challenges may be subject to daily limits depending on your account tier. We reserve the right to modify tier limits and features at any time.

7. Intellectual Property

All challenge content, platform design, code, and materials are the property of Octomate. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from platform content without prior written permission.

8. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Deletion is permanent and removes all your data, including challenge history, session records, and profile information.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that challenge environments will always be available. Challenge content is for educational purposes and may not reflect production best practices in all cases.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Octomate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data or interruption of service.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

12. Privacy

Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

13. Contact
